Compression stockings are a mandatory part of treatment of varicose veins. The stockings flatten the treated varicose veins so that they scar (heal) in a closed manner. They facilitate better flow through the normal veins by narrowing the diameter of veins and they prevent the treated veins from healing open allowing continued backflow after the treatment. Everyone must wear properly fitted graduated compression stockings for three weeks after having radiofrequency/laser treatment of varicose veins.
